• Create a new project (Please DO NOT place into an old project with other models, doing so may BREAK your project)
• Import VRCSDK > Included in file download
• Import Poiyomi Pro 7.350_and_8.1.141 OR Toon 7.3.050 (Pro is for the DPS blendshapes)
• Import DPS
• Import the avatar package

If your materials turn pink: select the parts from the avatar OR select the materials that show as being pink, and switch to Poiyomi. 

NOTE: You can also try to unlock and lock the material slots, if the project loads in pink materials.
